Carpet Feels Damp After Rain

Maybe i m going crazy but after a big rain my living room just feels damp.

Carpet feels damp after rain.

Within a week or so the damp spot progressed to a puddle 4 by 6 feet that a wet vac couldn t really keep up with. Staining and blistering of wall covering. When you have a leak in the slab foundation of your home that water accumulates and sometimes has nowhere to go but up. If you don t have a wet vacuum dab the damp area with towels until it s feeling a little drier.

It smells slightly mildewy and feels cold like there might be moisture. And eventually that water will reach your flooring and cause visible damage. If you have a wet vacuum go over the damp spot to take out as much of the moisture as possible. Deterioration of carpet or wood.

Efflorescence spalling of concrete or masonry. I checked the attic and there are no signs of leaks or dampness. Damp carpet or warped hard flooring. Rot and decay of wood headers joists sill plates and columns.

Odor mold and mildew. Work in small sections at a time. The temporary fix was to rip up the carpet knock a hole in the concrete slab repair the leaking pipe fill in the hole with quickcrete cement and restretch the carpet once it and the pad had dried. The rooms upstairs are fine.

We have a 2 story home and the ground level is the one that is wet. When i vacuumed the smell got worse temporarily. Condensation on cold walls and floor in summer. Remove as much water from the damp carpet as possible using a wet vacuum.
